Food 101: The Mouth (A.K.A. the Gateway to Gastronomy)

I’ve noticed that some of you are a little confused about gastronomy and could use an education, so I’ve decided to give back and provide you with some insights from my many years of learning and experience in the dark arts of edible pleasure.

First up, a bit of basic anatomy: The Mouth.

The mouth is arguably the body’s most important orifice. Don’t get me wrong: The vagina is also pretty fucking fantastic, but it’s not nearly as effective for consuming food (at least in my experience). And, that is our concern in this brief lesson.

Think of the mouth as the gateway to gastronomy. The illustration above details all of its most critical parts, from the Forward Bumper to the Crumb Catcher, more commonly known by the slang term “lips,” not to mention Upper Umami (one of my favorite neighborhoods).

Study the mouth, know it, and use it carefully. Knowledge is power.
